when you buy new PCs from dell, they have free old computer disposal option.

Otherwise, you can sell it to a salvage company, they'll take it for free.

Don't pay those companies that do recycling, who are they kidding...

Finally, if nothing else works, see if you can donate it to goodwill, or a local school.

don't throw it in the garbage because it has lead in it...

same thing as those used up UPS batteries, don't throw those away either...lead acid = bad for environment! Get those charged up at batteries plus or have them dispose for you.

You'll sleep better at night.

Drive to your local mall. Place the monitor in the front seat. Make a "repaired invoice" and place it on the monitor in the front seat. Leave all your windows down. Have lunch while your are in viewing distance of the vehicle. Wait till thief arrives. Finish lunch and go home..

bay area has occasional community dumpster days,,,...you get a notice in the mail. or sometimes officedepot or such has a free recycle.

guess its a good idea for companies like apple to have their free recycle programs for their stuff like ipod batteries..since people really don't tend to go out of their way to recycle the toxic things.
