Not particularly fond of Hillary, but I'd be fine with the Secret Service just shooting whoever throws anything at whomever they are guarding.

It looks like she didn't practice much. It would have been better for her to have thrown a handful of baby booties shotgun style instead of the single shot launch'um and leav'um LAW style stilleto heel attack. Hmmmm......on second thought maybe it was actually a chem-bio assault ala stinky toejam aerosol dispersal on impact kind of munition.

I don't understand? What's wrong with asking if it was a bat? It was black and flying quickly, I would have guessed a bird or a bat as well. It's not like she was looking at it as it flew by.

Nothing wrong, because she would probably expect an object like a bat being thrown at her based on how people accept her.

She didn't think a bat was thrown at her she thought a bat had flown by her, only after a few seconds did she asked if something was thrown at her. To me it seemed like she was totall surprised that anyone would throw something at her, not "expecting" it.
