Through careful scientific inquiry - I've concluded I don't like XP Service Pack 2 - an offtopic discussion

I've had nothing but problems since I upgraded to SP2. I finally said as starbuck says 'frack it' and went back to SP1 with a clean install. All problems have went away.

The computer is peppier and works good now.

Of course my inquiry is based on an experiment of 1 - so it really may not be scientific.

Several photoshop plugins

Firefox

mIRC
VLC
OpenOffice 2
Nod32
Spybot

Thats it.

Constant bluescreens with XPsp2
None now

No other difference

  1. Peppier. Reminds me of the way you guys use the word "sporty" for cars.
I thought only old farts used words like that!

Well you did do a fresh install too... I guess the real test to be sure is to upgrade to SP2 again now and see if the problems reappear (not that I think you should if everything is working now)

interesting, because a lady at work uses Photoshop CS & Illustrator CS on her xp sp2 machine.

i use firefox, mirc, and vlc on my xp sp2 system here at home. i think i may have even used spybot with it too.

i'd say you're doing something wrong or something else is causing you problems.
