Throttle

Anyone out here know of a good device to throttle bandwidth or software for a T1 line?

Problem. We have a T1 line and and we lease part of the T1 to other clients. But we wish to throttle their bandwidth to a just cable connects since thats all they are paying for.

Any suggestions?

If you setup a Smoothwall firewall, there are some custom mods you can do to it to have bandwidth control. Not the best, but it could do what you want. Check their forums for the mods.

You don't indicate what OS the controller is going to be installed on or the context in which you're using the controller (i.e. commercial, neighborhood network, etc.).

Do a google search for "bandwidth arbitrator". You'll get lots of hits that will point you to both Linux and Windows solutions.

I am afraid that in your case you would have to resort to a professional Router that can shape traffic.
