Today I finally summoned the will to re-install and beat Baldur's Gate 2 with mods. I just finished installing Throne of Bhaal and the installshield wizard just hangs and says "Not Responding". The last time I did this several months ago, this never happened. I use Windows 7 64-bit. Did anyone else run into this, and if you did, how did you fix it? Thanks.

I didn't have trouble with Vista-64, but I haven't tried it with my new Win7-Pro-64 install. I'll install BG2 in a few hours after I get home and let you know how I fair.

Was running fine on Win7 RC 64bit here. Widescreen mod at 1400x900 windowed was absolutely beautiful on my 40" (windowed so I could chat and stuff too :p).

BG1 + TotSC + NTotSC + DSotSC + BG2 + ToB + Tactics + Weimer + other big mods + some more mods to up the difficulty even more (from gibberlings.net or something) + The Big Picture ALL in one game. There are awesome games, there are epic games... and there's the Baldur's Gate saga... A separate category above epic.

You start at lvl1 in Candlekeep... I actually maxed my level (I was GOD :p). lvl50 or lvl60 - it said Maximum :p

Man I love this game... it's like 200 hours+ at least with that compilation alone... They don't make 'em like they used to...

Unfortunately, the BG series stands in a class all its own. They never made 'em like that before, or after. :) It was the pinnacle of cRPGs.

Actually, they do. It's obviously not as long as 2 games + 2 expansions, but Dragon Age is every bit as good as these classics. Well, except for not having Minsc. ;)

Yeah by the end of BG 2 expansion, your character would have amazing powers. You truely felt like a demi-god. No game did that better than BG2.

I will get DAO... eventually. I don't want it for my Xbox now. I think I'll see what the new nVidia cards will bring to the table and make my graphics card purchase decision then. And play DAO.

Not to mention I'm pretty sure it's impossible to beat conversations between Minsc, Jan Jansen, Viconia and Korgan. Especially the little gnome! Hell, it's impossible to beat the Viconia romance plot (and this one I know for sure :p).

Dragon Age is VERY good, but not on par with BG1 or BG2.

Hey Qbah, any guidance on your mod list would be great. I want the best experience this time through, and although there are "mega mod" installers out there they've been pretty glitchy in my experience when I tried them.

Did you notice the "tip" during one of the loading screens?

"When in doubt, go for the eyes!"

I could hear Minsc when I read it and I actually lol'd. I'm glad BioWare inserted a few references to the BG series.

"Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes!"

I actually said the same thing while playing through DAO. It really is close to as good as the BG series, it's just not as long because.. like you said, it doesn't have an expansion and a sequel with an expansion. Yet! :) I also don't think the writing is quite as good or has quite as much depth, but it's the best thing we've had in awhile. (I did really enjoy The Witcher, too, though)

Sorry, I did the install many months ago... I don't really remember the steps I took, just that it took me a few tries. And like a day :p

I know patching all WeiDU addons to the newest WeiDU version did help A LOT and there was a method to force update everything (some of them were hanging during this - there's a workaround for it too). Otherwise you may get a problem if the next mod you install in line is using an older WeiDU version.

Also, the order of installing each addon is critical. I know I installed most after the compiling mod (I double checked, it was Baldur's Gate Trilogy that I used). I think one or two I did install before merging both games with BGT.

Sorry, that's all I remember.
