Somehow when I was crawling under my desk last night to unplug my laptop, I managed to throw out my back. My lower back is killing me and I can't sit in a chair or even bend over to tie my shoes.

I'm laying at home in bed today recooperating, but what do some of your recommend to help me get healed up quicker?

Call the Dr and ask what you should take or do. Maybe ibuprofin to help with pain or something. Heat pack to revlie the muscles maybe...

But grab some DVDs or your favorite video game and enjoy the day off. Just be sure you heal enough for Friday night's game...

I fvcked my back up a couple months ago, it was actually my upperback so I could sit in my chair with only moderate pain. I just went home and died pretty much. It got better in a couple days.

is throwing out your back due to lack of excercise?

if so, after you get better, do some training/excercising to strengthen your back.
i mean, you shouldn't throw out your back just getting under a desk to unplug something.

Ibuprofin, and Ice it. Later switch to Ice and heat alternating. Later still, just heat.

Lots of ibuprofin.

You really need to go to a chiropractor. Not only will they speed up the recovery, they will probably be able to identify problems with your posture and give you exercises to do so you won't throw it out again.

In the meantime, just keep heat on it and try to rest as much as possible.

go to your doc.

I get muscle spasms from time to time... occasionally they hurt like a MUTHER! anyways, some muscle relaxants and a good night sleep usually takes care of it for me.

All it takes sometimes is a twist of the torso when your back is at the wrong angle. It often has a lot more to do with posture than muscle strength. As I already said, he should really visit a chiropractor to get evaluated.

Yea. I was bending over and twisting to unplug my laptop.

If you go to the doc, he'll give you valium or something like it. It never did much for me. I've had the same thing happen to me many times. Once you have it happen, you're much more likely to have it occur again.

The secret, if there is one, is to ice it early.

It doesn't hurt to exercise your back. I used to throw out my back every 6 months and everytime I would go to therapy they would just recommend exercises for it and give me some pain killers. When I finally started working out my back like they recommended I stopped throwing it out.

use a icepack and go to the dr and get some anti-inflammatories. Vioxx worked great on my hurt back, but now that I can't get that im using Relafen. http://www.drugs.com/relafen.html

EDIT: Forgot about the chiropractor since my back does not feel any better or worse after getting adjusted. :D

I went to the Doc yesterday for lower back pain, he told me to keep active when it flares up, and that bedrest doesn't help......
