oh no, respecting people's identities. what the hell else will happen in this world?!?

your name is "pcgeek". but what if i called you "compuwiz" instead? you'd say "no, my name is pcgeek" and i'd say "but you look more like a compuwiz to me, so i'm gonna roll with that even if it pisses you off". and that would make me an asshole for not calling you by YOUR name for YOURSELF.

likewise, do you call a married woman who has taken her husband's surname as "Mrs. {maiden name}" or "Mrs. {married name}"?

it's the same goddamn thing. don't be an asshole.

That is true.

He however was not an Official in the Executive Branch serving at the pleasure of the President. He is a contracted employee as per the article.

Contractors do not lose their first amendment rights.

Meh, I highly doubt any Contractor would still have a work “contract” after posting on a social media site the CEOs Wife doesn’t know what a Woman is…
I know if I were that CEO and the comment was aimed at my Wife the dude would be gone.

Remember Ted Cruz posted something to the effect our Military is weak and woke or something dumb like that and the Russian Military is tough and ready.
I’ll take the woke choice 100 out of 100 times. Look at how well those “tough guys” are performing in Ukraine. How many abandoned tank, trucks and god knows what. We have solid reports of troops openly disobeying orders.

He said “Glad to see you finally know what a woman is,” and that's it?

I see nothing offensive or terrible in that statement. Certainly nothing to lose your job over.

It seems the Combined Arms Center and students come out as the loser and will miss learning from his extensive knowledge and experience.
It was a patently snide remark and he was way out of line directing it to the 1st Lady. Bump the motherfucker.

first amendment rights don’t come with employment. It only protects you from prosecution by the government.

I don’t think he was saying anything at Jill Biden’s expense. I think he was lamenting Biden’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights in the military.

Our armed forces are among the best in the world. In my opinion possibly the best in the world. I'm sure my staff sergeant daughter has biased me but my daughter doesn't fuck around

What is your honest opinion of that video w/r to our armed services?

Thank your daughter for her service! I'm sure you are proud of her as you should be.

No, it isn't the same thing. Call me whatever you want. Doesn't bother me, but then again I'm not a pussy.

Not true:
As per the supreme court, contractors have no rights what so ever.

That doesn't do away with peoples first amendment rights. You may lose the contract, but you still have a right to say whatever you want. Just as this Lt. Gen. was suspended for his statement. Just as any employer can put provisions on what employees can say using a non disclosure agreement as a requirement for employment.

What he said is a big nothing burger and this is an over reaction.

I agree we do have a great military, the best in the world. But that video is about the silliest thing I have ever seen. It is embarrassing I.M.O.

Seems a pretty mild comment to lose your job over. But then again, this is 2022 so anything even slightly off the "accepted list" will get you cancelled.

It's anti-trans bigotry, you know this.

You have a problem with service members being respectful to their fellow service members? That's all the conversation around pronouns is.

That it seems to trigger you in some way only speaks to your own personal character.

The funniest thing about these people is how hard they project their insecurities. He's totally "not a pussy" but gets his feelings hurt over that video and being asked to use someone's proper pronouns.

What I think is funny is until late February conservatives were all in a tizzy about Russian propaganda videos of their soldiers doing manly stuff or whatever and talked about how their un-woke army was an example we should follow. lol - look at them now.

Turns out good order, discipline, and a focus on competence is more important than being un-woke.

I'm still confused about how learning how to be respectful is a bad thing. @pcgeek11 can you explain to us how treating your fellow humans with respect is bad?
