Three pics and some video of Intel's newest fab, D1D...

Those pics remind me of the IBM fab I worked at in Essex Junction, VT. Especially all those tracks on the ceiling for the little transports.

Very cool.

I'd like to have a "whip"in my house just to mess around with! 🙂

Cool. The .065u tech will be developed there.

Yep I believe so...Its older brother D1C which is right next to it is the house for the .09micron stuff and prescott....It even older brother D1B was I believe the father of the p4 northwood stuff but since has been ramped up to Full fab status (Fab 20) and not a developmental Fab hence the D in the D1D....

D1C is filling fast with tools and D1D was needed.....I wonder if Intel will start early on D1E or sense Oregon and the local liberal politicians have ran this state into the ground with anti-business activities and huge taxes. I think Intel is going to need some offerings on the plate this time to invest more in Oregon and the Ronler Acres site....

Was the first 3 pics of the sub-fab or actually in the fab?

Also, looking for workers with 5 1/2 years experience with Implant or Photo? 😉

Yep, also reminds me of the Infineon plant (WhiteOak Semiconductor, Sandston, VA) I spent a few months at in 2000. I wish that project hadn't ended so quickly, there were some really cool things going on there.

Ah, those pics remind me of my Intel adventure last summer at Fab 23 in Colorado Springs. They hired my on as a process engineer right out of college, I was there for two months, then I got laid-off with about half of the engineers at the site. I wonder how much longer fab 23 will even be there since it didn't look like they were going to get the new flash ROM process, and half of the fab is completely empty. I can't really complain though, I took my 5 months severence pay, and then went to work for another company. Intel was a pretty cool company to work for though, I really liked how they treated their employees.

Where the hell are the blue people?? And why aren't the folks wearing the bunny suits dancing??

Thanks for the links, especially the pics.

I'm 15 years old, you think I could box the cpus? I wouldn't ask for much, maybe a box each day with cpus of my choice 😉

Heck, my dream is to start my own company when I'm through college but if I decide not to, Intel is the next place on my dream list 🙂

Those look like inside the fab, the subfab is usually external piping and supporting tools, and you don't need to wear bunnysuits to go into subfab (just hard hats and steel toed shoes).

As an Oregonian I have to love what Intel is doing!
Keep it it up, I knew there was a reason I always buy Intel whenever possible 🙂
