three monitors with two cards?

Hey guys,

Anyone know if I get a DualDisplay card like a matrox g400 or 550, and then add another cheap old card in, it will give me three?
can i just keep adding video cards and get more monitors? not sure how that works in WindowsXP.

Do those cheap old cards for the extra monitors with like 4mb of RAM create bottlenecks for fast P4 800FSB systems?

Thanks

Why not get a Matrox Parhelia (sp?)? It drives 3 monitors right out of the box.
My "guess" is that it will work, but I would stick with 2D apps.

Yes, because everyone's got that kind of bread to drop.

The fact that he's asking about G400 series shows that he's short on cash.

And yes, it will give you three. Try to get a G550 if you can afford it, but if not then get a G400DH 32MB. Another Matrox PCI card (G200 PCI) and you're set to do some lovely graphic work. 🙂

Thanks mercenary, you hit the target. The reason im not getting the newer matrox cards is because I dont have any more money to spend. I am going to pick up a 550 and then an extra card for the third monitor and get exactly what i need for a lot cheaper than getting the newer model. Sweet, thanks

I just purchased a PCI G450 today. Once it gets here I'll try it with my radeon 8500. Lets see how well windows can run 4 monitors. 😀
