Well I'm flipping btw. Monday Night Football and LKL, and they just interviewed the young medical students who were at the Shoney's restaurant w/Eunice Stone. From their statements:
- they never mentioned "nine, eleven, September, World Trade" or anything referring to the terrorist attacks in that restaurant. In their words, "we never ever joked about it, and anyone who ever knew me [Amar with the skullcap] would know that I would never joke about it. Our friend lost a father in the WTC. We organized a vigil at our school after the attacks occurred. It was not a joking matter"
- they never 'flew' through a toll booth without paying (they said that a squad car was waiting at the toll booth, and as they handed the money over the toll booth attendant looked at them funny. She had seen their 'wanted' license plates in the tollbooth video feed?)
- Eunice stated that they had spoken in Arabic at one point; the students say only one of them speaks Arabic (1-way conversation?)
- "bringing it down" referred to one of the student's cars in Ohio; "do you have enough" referred to whether this student should buy a new car in Miami instead.
Other statements:
- though the hospital they were to start rotations at has now refused to admit them (they've been receiving threats from the community if they accept "terror suspects") these students will NOT file a lawsuit (their school has assigned them to another hospital.)
- they applauded the police's handling of the situation when they were detained. Their only complaint was that no one could tell them why they were being detained since the information was considered 'classified' at the time (the deputies themselves did not know all the details.)
- they feel sorry for Eunice since she is in the hospital and they hope that she gets better, and that "God will open her eyes"
- EDIT: Amar said he asked police NOT to search his car because he had sensitive medical equipment (which was thought to be a bomb and was destroyed) and also because "mummy spent so much time packing everything all nice and neat." They were moving in to college, so imagine how packed his lil' Integra was.
Ms. Stone's lawyer's statements:
- students were not being honest about details of their conversation
- Ms. Eunice has no reason to fabricate these details; she has hosted M. Eastern forex students in her home, and she has in-laws who are M. Eastern
