Race is not important at all....for all we know they could have been 1/2 Palestinian and 1/2 Israeli.......

That's $120k per kid per year, assuming 3-4 years to put out 5 decent albums. That's great for being 13, but not so much for an adult.

Yeah...if they were adults, they totally should have passed.

EDIT: seems like i got your jelly before you edited it out. woot!

I actually first got my math wrong, and then I understood my math wrong. Once I realized I was not even close, I took it out. Oh well.

Better than the offers many bands get which is basically the studio owns the first album and they will front money for you to tour. What you make from the tour is yours.

Then if the first album is good, you can renegotiate the deal on the second one.

The deal commits Sony to producing two of the band's albums, as long as the first album sells more than 250,000 units. The three musicians -- guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, 13; bassist Alec Atkins, 13; and drummer Jarad Dawkins, 12 -- will be paid $60,000 upfront for their first LP and could earn a $325,000 advance on their second.

It's not like they are given 1.7M up front. It's not guaranteed either.

$60,000 for the first album, $325,000 for the second, $400,000 for the third, $450,000 for the fourth, and $550,000 for the fifth.

The contract is for 2 albums with an option for the rest if they meet the sales number.

Good for them, it's pursuant a lot on if they sell anything long run, for what they get.

Looks good for a promotional thing, best of luck to em.

I don't see it happening, but go for it kids.

Then again, people see the thing, they might get sales if they produce good music just because of it.

Back in the early 90s I was working on a job, and some weird black kid walked by with headphones on. He stopped, and wanted me to listen to the metal he was listening to. I didn't like metal then, and I don't like it now, I think that was pretty racist assuming I liked that kind of music :^D

probably standard nowadays. if they meet sales goals the band is getting less than $0.25 per album off that first record.

Saw a story on them on Nightline, they only play instrumentals for now til they reach puberty and their voices change.
