Threads which span multiple pages

I'm pretty sure I've seen this topic in forum issues before, and I think Zuni said it wasn't entirely feasible because it could just look terrible when there are dozens or more pages to a thread. BUT I thought I'd offer the suggestion of having just the extra option of going to the last page of the thread (or still click the thread name to go to the first page)? That way you could add just a little symbol for last page and you wouldn't have all the clutter?

Added benefit of not always having to begin loading page 1 then clicking on the one you actually want, less of a burden on the server(s).

Just a thought 🙂

You could also set your customize options to sort messages in descending order. That way you would automatically go to the last post in a thread. 🙂

You can try this kludgy workaround, I happen to use it all the time. When there is a long thread which I have read recently but need to catch up on the latest posts, I'll note how many replies there are, start to open it, then hit the Stop button and tack on "&start=x" to the URL and hit enter. x=first reply I want to see.

You could copy the URL to the clipboard and paste it back in, then add the start thing, either way.

So if there are 150 replies, and I think I've probably seen the first 130, I'll add "&start=130" to the thread URL and hit enter. Then only the 20 posts I want to see will be there.
