Is it possible for the moderators to post a message as to why a thread has been locked at the time they lock it? I have a thread going on P & N that lists "Known P & N Troublemakers." It was compiled by taking a somewhat representative sample of the people who posted. Most people were somewhat proud to be listed as a "troublemaker" in this sense of the word. Someone started the list on Off Topic and the list was locked. My ego isn't on the line here, but people are often puzzled as to why a thread was locked. Having it locked on "Off Topic" (of all threads) and still viable on P & N points out the usefullness of posting locking reasons.

I don't know if you'll get an answer or not but as you can see in the responses posted in the Off Topic you can get a good idea why.
