Thread Locking -- Maybe mods should put an explanation?

I've been trying to figure the pattern as to why PS2 threads are being locked in the Hot Deals forum. As of yet, I see none. Some threads are still going strong, even though they are not HOT DEALs in the typical sense. Maybe an explanation as to why they were locked will help us from creating lockable threads.

What happened is this...

When the PS2 first came out, there was a big shorttage of systems (500,000 for all of North America). Because of this, many people were not able to get their systems.

There were others who Pre-Ordered like 2-3 systems, and were selling them on E-Bay and other Message Boards for very high prices (some selling for more than $1000).

When some of these people started trying to sell their PS2's on our forums, many of our members started thread crapping in these peoples posts. This happened quite a bit, so the mod's just decided to lock any thread that had a PS2 for sale. This way, there were not as many threads being crapped on.

i dont see why people should have being "thread crapping", people have a right to advertise their goods at whatever price they choose, and if someone is dumb enough to pay that much for it, then it's their own fault. :)

mods normally post explanations unless the reason is pretty self-explanatory, meaning a blatant disreguard for forum rules.
