The game has been out for a while now, I think it's time to chill out.
Why just with oblivion? Go do a search for Half life or HL2, it's ridiculous. I'd like to post a thread about the latest update, which I know that many people wouldn't know about because they, like me, have stopped looking at the insanely overcrowded, unfocused Oblivion threads that have been allowed to stand, but I won't, simply because what's the point?
When I first came to AT, I thought it was so great... the people here were friendly (forgiving their "pics or ban" knee-jerk reaction to any mention of a woman), helpful, entertaining. It made me want to be a part of the community. And so I tried to give back, providing help to people, posting up some freebies, starting the AT foreign language connection, and even earlier today trying to begin a thread of elusive phone numbers for replacement parts (a thread which will surely get killed by some lock-happy mod). But you know, it's getting so hard to care about this place anymore.
Let people post. The community will decide which topics will continue and which won't. So what if there are a dozen threads on Oblivion - just make an option to search by number of results. Make a thread rating system. Big deal. I know the mods are a necessity, but when it comes to the question of whether it is best to exert too much or too little power, the mods need to realize and support the policing power of the populace, and perhaps allow a little chaos to preserve the community that we have come to know.
Thank you.
