Thread lenth questions

Anyone on here know the longest thread that the AT Forums have had? I started wondering when I saw the SCSI vs. IDE thread in GH has hit 453 posts. That's probably the longest that I can remember seeing.

Is there a limit imposed by software? or by the mods to keep down bandwidth?

I've personally seen almost 3,000 posts. A "nef" thread, of course, but still it's impressive that the forums handled it so well.

Thread limiting is an admin decision each category can have its thread limited separately.

Yet another question:

Where does the term "nef" come from? I'm guessing that it means "to post simply to add another post to your posting score", but I've never heard the term before.

Hmmm. Either neffing.com is a banned site for Intel, or it's down - because I can't seem to get to it.

So is my guess of a definition correct, or am I wrong, or should I just wait until I get home and then try neffing.com again and find out for myself?

Your definition is correct. I wouldn't lose any sleep about getting to the neffing.com site, since if it is worthy of the name, there wouldn't be a thing there worth looking at. 🙂

I might be wrong, but I think neffing is a term coined here at AT (in OT of course). And yes, neffing is posting with the sole purpose of raising your post score

"Neffing" is stupid. I don't see what's cool about having a high post count full of crap. But whatever.

I thought those dumb nekkid threads had the highest. The biggest one was a couple thousand wasn't it?
