Hi, I am ordering parts to build a comp for college and have put together a list of hardware I am going to get. I am not trying to build an awesome gaming rig because I don't play games that often, I just want a comp that is fast with lots of space for movies, music and a fast proc for encoding movies etc. and a halfway descent vid card for some occasional game playing. I am not looking to spend much over $1600 dollars all parts are being ordered from newegg unless otherwise stated...but anyways tell me what you think of this setup:

Mobo- Gigabyte GA-8KNXP (got good reviews on tomshardware)
Proc- p4 2.6C
Mem- Kingston HyperX KHX3500/256mb X 2 (I have heard the mobo has mem problems with some brands and this was recommended by many people on newegg)
Case-Antec performance Plus 1080Amg
HD- WD special edition 120gb
SndCard- SB live! 5.1 (Should i just use onboard sound on mobo or is that supposed to suck?)
CD-RW- LiteOn 52x
DvD-Rom- LiteOn 16x dvd
VidCard- Ati 9500 pro
Monitor- Nec multisync LCD1760V
speakers- logitech z-340 (would get z560 but i am trying to save space)
keyboard- microsoft 114 key
mouse- logitech mx500

my suggestions:
abit IS7 over the gigabyte board (although the gigabyte board is a great mobo by all means)
Santa Cruz over SB live 5.1
with the 100+ dollars you would save if you get the IS7, you can get a 9800 NON pro instead of a 9500 pro and OC to a 9800 pro

I agree w/ shady on the MB. Have a look at the M-Audio Revolution at newegg. It's a quality sound card. Peace.
