Tonight i decided to give windows 8 preview a shot.

Coming from someone who used windows 7 since build 7000 i figured why not.

Thus far i have found it to be very responsive and very fast i will try out some games and apps rather soon but wondering is anyone else toying with it and if so what have you found and thoughts?

The UI is actually pretty great on a pure tablet, but on the desktop it's inconsistant, jarring and not great. I find using it on a pure desktop set up is frustrating. Win8 with mouse and keyboard is less user friendly than Win7 is with a pure touch tablet.

All I hope is that there is an easy way to disable the new UI so if I'm at a work PC, it will go back to the classic desktop.

It is not that bad, I disabled metro and installed classic shell. I can't get my tv tuner working in it yet though.

I think the boot time is insane. I have it on my test bench setup, (old 2Ghz K8, 1GB DDR2, 640GB WD) and it boots from button push to desktop in 20 seconds. Can only imagine on a fast rig with an SSD.

Yeah i mean a regular option. I could do the registry edit but i'd rather not and use group policy or something like that.

Yeah but I think he means a legit way. Like a simple checkbox within Windows to disable Metro.

I also hate the UI and much prefer the Windows 7 one.

Its ok, although I'm not a fan of metro on a desktop. Its a preview so I wasn't expecting much. My expectations will be much higher with the beta.
