Thoughts on this NB chipset cooler...

Cooler Master Blue Ice

Anyone use this? I picked it up for cheap from CompUSA today, b/c when i overclock, my NB heatsink gets scalding hot...

Would I be better served just adding a fan to the HS? Or should I put this whole assembly on the NB instead. Also, if I use this, would the preapplied thermal adhesive tape be sufficient for long term use?

Is your board the LanParty UT NF4?

If it is, that HSF is going to foul your PCIe video card-- With the fan on, it's too tall.

no, it's the socket 754 nforce3 board....this thing seems SO tiny, I think it would fit under my agp card just fine, I'm just wondering if it will be an improvement over the stock heatsink that is held in with the retention clips...

this cooler master one just has the thermal tape

Yep, it should not foul the AGP slot on your NF3 board.

Gotta watch out for it fouling PCI cards though (if you use any).

HTH.

thanks wisdomtooth...

any other thoughts? I'm about to install this thing, and just want to make sure it's not going to be a downgrade from the stock passive heatsink
