I've been looking for a laptop to replace my desktop and aging laptop and came across this Toshiba model at BB. I've been out of the game for awhile in terms of knowing what's good/bad so I just wanted to get some input before pursuing this any further.

Seems pretty balanced and the 4570 GPU struck me as a bonus at this price point.
 
Looks pretty decent for the price depending on how you plan to use it. CTD and discrete graphic card for $750 is very good but I think I would hate the 1366X768 res.
 
Looks okay. Depends on what you're going to use it for, I suppose.

I've been running a Satellite for almost 3 years, with no problems. Looks very similar to the one you linked to... and I'm perfectly happy with it (still).

16s are really too big to lug around, but it will work fine for a desktop replacement. If you want something truly portable, I would strongly suggest going with a 12-incher (or thereabout) or a 10-inch Netbook. 😉

One thing you should be aware of...

A lot of ppl h-a-t-e Toshiba touchpads - mostly because they're recessed below the palm rests - and they have shape edges around the hole. Sooo, be sure you take it for a test drive before you buy it! HPs have pretty descent touchpads, so compare the Toshy touchpads to an HP and the difference(s) will jump out at you.

Personally, this doesn't bother me because I use a cordless mouse 99.9% of the time, but it's something to consider...
