1. What YOUR PC will be used for:

Gaming and surfing the web

2. What YOUR budget is:

I have essentially no budget but I'm not going to completely burn my dollars just because of that.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from:

USA

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are:

Asus Xonar STX Sound Card, GTX Titan X (Pascal+Hybrid cooler) - I also have my monitor, headphones, keyboard and mouse.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Overclock !!!

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

2560X1440

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

ASAP

10. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?

Windows 10 - not sure which version.

So far I have come up with these ideas for parts:

CPU: i7 6700K from Silicon Lottery (4.8Ghz guarantee + delidded) - 480$ https://siliconlottery.com/products/6700k48g

Mobo: Gigabyte G1 Gaming Z170 480$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...3&cm_re=g1_gaming_z170-_-13-128-833-_-Product

RAM: G. Skill TridentZ 32GB DDR4 (3600) 250$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=32gb_Trident_3600-_-20-232-296-_-Product

CPU Cooling: This one I have no idea on except for that I want something like an H100 (dual 120mm radiator) I want the best performance - noise isn't too much of a concern. Obviously it needs to be 1151 compatible.

SSD: Samsung 950 Pro M.2. 512GB 320$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...7467&cm_re=samsung_950-_-20-147-467-_-Product

I know virtually nothing about M2 drives....

HDD: 6TB WD Black 280$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...970&cm_re=wd_black_6tb-_-22-236-970-_-Product

For my huge STEAM collection and my music

Case: Cosmos 2 Ultra Tower 320$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1UH3Z68117&cm_re=cosmos_2-_-11-119-252-_-Product

Love this case, that's why I want another - and it has room for a huge radiator up top.

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNova 1000 Platinum Full Modular 170$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438013

Did I miss anything ? How's it look ? I've been out of the 'latest and greatest' game since the summer of 2012 when I built the rig in my signature.

Everything looks good, but be aware that you are not going to notice a huge difference going from an overclocked 3930k to an overclocked 6700k. That's a pretty penny to pay for a CPU as well. Most 6700k's easily go 4.4 - 4.6 Ghz, so is that 300 - 400 Mhz worth it? I see 6700k CPUs on sale for $310 pretty regularly right now.

I know we all have different wants and needs, but if you slapped a GTX 1080 and a PCIe drive in your system, you'd be sitting very nicely until Intel released a CPU will a bigger performance difference than the one you have.

Just my .02

I already have the new Titan X and I am seeing a number of games where I am CPU bound - even at 1440p that is my main reason for upgrading, even if it's 15 to 20% improvements I'll take it, do you think that is unattainable?

Someone just asked the same thing yesterday:

https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/worth-the-upgrade-from-3930-to-6850.2482459/

If you are CPU bound by a game with a 3930k, you will be with a 6700k as well. Honestly, you are looking at a 5-10% increase. EDIT Some tasks might be up to 20% now that I thought about it a little bit more, but still not that big of difference in many of them.

Here is a review which shows some gaming benchmarks. They are showing gaming performance of a 6700k to a 3770k, so your CPU will closer in performance.

Intel has some newer CPUs coming out later this year, and early next year where you might actually get a decent return on all that money you are going to spend:

Q2 2017 ? Unghhh that's like an eternity haha. I do appreciate your input I'll have a look at those links thanks.Edit: I should also mention that me upgrading would let my brother inherit my current build (with my 'old' gtx 1080) and it would allow me to gift my brothers fairly high end build to an old friend of mine who cannot afford to build anything that nice, in fact he doesn't even have a desktop PC right now...so that's some motivation for me to do this too.

No problem. We have different wants and expectations on hardware, but the biggest thing is to know how big of a performance increase to expect before pulling the trigger......especially on a very high-end build like you are doing.

Being a Titan X owner you are already well in the enthusiast category, so maybe after reading some reviews, you still might decide it's worth it to you.

Good luck.
