Yeah they are obviously saving it for E4 2018. Can't wait!
It's more likely they'd be saving it for Tokyo Game Show, assuming it's entirely a presentation decision as opposed to when they'd have something good enough to show.

nintendo doesn't have shit to show right now or else they would have done it at e3 - the biggest gaming conference in the world, by far. that makes no sense why they would hold something like that out.

it's like when people were trying to justify how nintendo not having an e3 conference was a good idea. they were trying to spin it in a positive manner.

I think they do have something. I think they have enough that they could have put together a demo. I also think they just don't get it anymore. My jaw is dropping at every Nintendo announcement because I can't figure out why they can't figure it out.

We cry for a game. Nintendo says hey, we got something big coming up in a couple months that we want to show you, you're going to love it. We cheer. It comes around and its something else completely that we aren't all that interested in. What do they think they're accomplishing?

again, if they did have something monumental, why not show it at e3, the largest video game show IN THE WORLD BY A LONG SHOT? there is absolutely no reason NOT to show it there. but keep dreaming if it makes you sleep better at night lol. i have been around long enough to know how nintendo plays. they take FOREVER to get their first party AAA titles out. i've always wondered why it takes them so damn long for games.

There are 3 major game trade shows every year: E3 (June), Gamescom (August), and TGS (September). Of those Gamescom is actually the biggest, not E3 (by nearly five-fold). Meanwhile Nintendo is a Japanese company, not an American company. So it's not at all unusual for them to save something for their home turf (TGS), especially since the reception is generally more favorable and they get an extra 3 months to work on it. But anything they announced at TGS will be a 2014 title; TGS is not used to announce same-year titles as far back as I can recall.

fair enough, i wasn't aware that gamescom was that large. but sony is not an american company either, but their biggest announcements come over here.

it still doesn't make any sense to me to hold back anything when the whole point of these shows is for the 3 big companies to show off their games.

Perhaps Nintendo has a larger market in Japan than here in terms of software?

I know. The long development cycle isn't a surprise. They've just shifted the cycle of launching big first party in semi-steady succession away from the hardware launch so it seems a little worse.

My issue is with the announcements, not the wait. They seem to be shooting themselves in the foot more and more generating false anticipation, when they could just not say anything at all and everything would be ok.

E3 isn't nearly as big once the main hardware passes (its still big but the focus isn't so strong on the big 3), and demos are usually so simple that devs don't need a hell of a lot working to show something off. Nintendo has also historically announced new Zelda titles at E3.

E3 was a waste of time for Nintendo with Sony and MS guaranteed to get all the attention this year. Would have been a wasted opportunity to release whatever their best news is, in that setting.

They can only release something for the first time, one time. Better to do it when people might be paying attention.

Besides that, wtf do you care ? There will be good games. Or there won't. They'll sell a lot. Or they won't.

Ok so let's NOT announce our best franchise and biggest system seller so everyone can buy the new Xbox and PlayStation later this year instead of buying our system! Yes, makes total sense!!!

When you put it that way, it does actually make sense.

Say "we have Zelda, but not now" confirms definitively that it won't be out any time soon and people can make up their minds and say screw it and go PS/XB. By being silent about it, more people who can't get multiple systems will continue holding out as long as possible.

So if a new Zelda was announced at E3 and was coming out this November, you really think that would stop people from buying a PS4 ?

I bought both. PS4 for third party/social aspects (and I enjoy their first party more) and Wii U for innovation (plus Mii Verse).

Most likely skipping MS this generation until they get their act together.

it is funny thinking back how many of us were saying nintendo wasn't having their own conference because they didn't have anything to show, and how many people were defending them and how they were going to have all these amazing games to show, and justifying why not having a conference was a good idea.

welp, looks like those of us saying it was because they didn't haev shit to show were correct. lol.
A pure beast, eh? 😵

If you haven't played Skyward sword then you have no clue and have no business commenting on it. It most definitely isn't just waggle controlled.
