I was thinking last night about the news coverage from that crash involving the Lamborghini & the arrest of the driver of the modded Vette.

Would this have gotten any coverage if it had been, say, a 1989 Mustang 5.0 & a 1991 Camaro? Probably not. Every news story prominently displayed the word "Lamborghini," & some went so far as to quote it's 0-60 time, it's top speed, & it's cost.

Don't get me wrong, the story is horrific... But it would never have gotten the coverage if it hadn't involved a $1/4 million car.

That is nearly as disgusting as the wreck itself.

Its because America is based on giving the public the juciest story with all these amazing facts, not giving a damn about the peeps and just getting ratings.

15 years ago, this might have made the paper, MIGHT.

crashes like this happen every day; one's probably happening right now... why this one got so much exposure? (in no partic order)

1. Fast and the Furious hype
2. Lamborghini vs. Corvette
3. Tragic death of the innocent
4. Obvious display of stupidity of the rich/machismo of the males

The First two are the MAIN reason. 3 & 4 are usually "local" news makers ,but not national.

Every wreck involving a "sports" or "fast and furious" lol car will get coverage since the movie is out they have soething to blame
People race cars all the time and wreck soemtimes. It never really got alot or national coverage. Usually a local spot due to a traffic jam that it may have caused...stupid stupid

no, because people dont care about old cars racing... it is a big deal because you dont see these cars everyday, and expecially not dragging in the middle of the day...

and that is why they make a big deal out of it...

No, it is not. No matter how rare the car, no matter what time of day, the fact is that one person's reckless behavior cost a man his life, & two kids their father.

You, like the news reports, are missing the point.
