I am purchasing the fallowing parts to build a new gaming system that will be replacing my old system from2004; ( the games I play: world of warcraft, starcraft2, black ops, and dc universe online.)

Asus. M4a79xtd evo mobo
2x2gb g skillz 1600 ram ddr3
Antec earthwatt 650 psu
Xfx ati hd5770 gpu
Seagate baracuda 1tb 7200rpm, 32mb cache sata hdd
Amd athlon II x3 450 cpu
Coolmaster vortex cpu fan 92mm fan
Using my old gaming case raidmax x1 mid gaming tower with 2 120mm fans(1 intake and 1 exhaust), 1 80mm side intake fan.
Using my old 22" samsung sync master t220 monitor(max res: 1680x1950)
Should I beable to play these games at max settings?

Welcome to Anandtech forums, kingkung!

Most likely yes.

What's your budget? It kinda looks like you might be overspending on the PSU. A good 500W is all you need, and the saved $$$ can go for a quad core or a better GPU.

$40 - Antec Neo Eco 520C

You may want to consider the Cooler Master 212+ instead. I'm not familiar with the Vortex, but the 212+ is very effective and it comes with a bolt-thru kit.

The reason I got the bigger psu is because I was going to get another 5770 and go for a x fire set up, I'm probably going to add a blueray play drive as well.

I wanted to ask a noob question, if I am able to unlock the 4th core on the cpu, will the 1600 ram run it fine? Or would I need to upgrade to ddr3 1800?

Also, any suggestions on a good gaming tower under $100?

Haf 912, 922, and 932 are all good cases, RAM speeds dont really matter that much in real world use. And going X-fire or SLI later is usually a bad idea, it is generally better to sell the card and buy a SINGLE card as an upgrade, i find single cards offer less driver issues and less problems in general (heat, power, microstutter, drivers). A smaller PSU like the one blackmage suggested is actually good for 2 5770's anyway you dont need anything bigger then 500w for two of them.

here is a link of that fan i listed in my build:

cool, i am going to return the power supply, but i was wondering if i really need to get an upgraded cpu fan, could i use the cpu fan that comes with the athlon x3 cpu? could the stock fan hurt me in the future? should i cough up the extra 30 bucks for a good fan?

Buying a better heatsink fan isn't a bad idea and if trying to unlock a core can help keep your cpu stable.

The aftermarket heatsink/fan is not necessary, if you don't plan on overclocking. The cpu might run warm with the stock cooler, but it still shouldn't overheat or anything.

The Antec 300 Illusion ($60 shipped) is another case worth taking a look at.

Go cheaper on the PSU (get an Antec 520C) and RAM (get DDR3 1333) and you should be able to get a GTX 460 1GB right off the bat.
