i've never heard of kraken, how much does it cost for a litre or handle? i was oging to get a handle of captain morgan tonight but i may try that out instead if it's not too much (and if htey carry it)

750 Ml Bottle is right at $ 19.99 - if you can find the 1.5L it's $ 26.99

These prices can range to about +/- $ 2.00 depending on where you live and any Blue Laws in the districts.

Cheap version of Capt Morgan. Fine if that's what you're after.

If by "cheap", you mean "the same price", then yeah it is. At least here in NC, where a 1.75 of either CM or SJ is going to cost you about $28.

If I'm drinking spiced rum, I'm probably putting it in coke, so any taste difference between the two is going to be minimal.

But I don't generally drink spiced rums, so my favorite rum, by far, is Flor De Cana. Relatively inexpensive for a very good sipping rum.

pretty good

i would consider it above average despite being very affordable.

i would imagine this to be one of the college-party staples.

edit: forgot today's moran undergrads want four loko instead.

this is good shit man. when i went to nicaragua we would get the 7 year stuff for $11 (USD) for a handle.

Yep, I first heard about Flor De Cana on ATOT. Now it's my favorite rum.

On the topic of spiced rums, I just stopped at the ABC last week and saw a Cruzan spiced rum for the first time, so I picked up a bottle. I thought it was pretty good, but very different from CM and SJ. It tasted more like a vanilla rum to me. You could taste the other spices, but they were mostly overpowered by the vanilla.

i actually tryied to get krakan this past weekend and couldn't find it at my store.

i asked them about it and he said they carry it but were sold out of it. i'm definitely interested in trying it out though, i'll check around for it next time i hit up the store.

I may have to try the Flor de Cana... which version do y'all like? Just the cheapest white rum, or do you go for the aged varieties?

As far as Sailor Jerry goes, it's cheaper than Captain Morgan here, and I prefer it to CM (although I prefer Private Stock to SJ, but it's more expensive still). I actually prefer using spiced rum for rum and cokes or daiquiris; it lends a unique flavor, and makes it taste better in my opinion. The Kraken is pretty good too, and it's on sale pretty frequently around here.

i think they have like 4,5,7,12,13,15 and probably some other ones.

when i first had it, i got the 7 and we pretty much stuck with that the entire time we were in nicaragua. i tried one of the older ones but the price difference wasnt really worth it.

I think it's overrated, but only b/c I knew this guy who kept coming around swearing Sailor Jerry was the best thing EVER! Claiming Cpt. Morgan sucked and SJ was the cat's meow. I tried it and wasn't blown away or anything. I guess it's a good cpt.morgan alternative though.
