I think that I'm going to turn my current (soon to be old) computer into an HTPC as next year my house will have digital cable and all that jazz. Also, I need to get some experience in with Linux/Unix.
I was going to do freebsd, but my buddy that I'm living with has like 600gb worth of drives that he has no computer for right now so we're going to load up my old box with a bunch of storage and go to town.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Can Windows Media Center edition do anything like record live TV, and if so can it compare to the performance of a Linux-based app?
