1. Gaming FFXIV

2. I'm buying 2 one for my younger brother and one for my self, for both 5k including monitor with no keyboard and mice.

3. United States, I was recommended new egg.com

4. Intel CPU for sure. Asus parts would be preferable i know their a bit more pricey, but i hear there great quality.

5. No Parts except for keyboard and mouse, witch I plan to replace when I have a bit more money.

6. No I have not.

7. I plan to overclock the CPU, never done it before but i hear its not to complicated and im good at following directions : ) lol.

8. 1920x1200

9. Soon as possible

So here is my basic selection.

That's what i think would make a pretty good system, I am a noob so I can be wrong.

I would like to know what you guys think this system is capable of. I hope it can play Final Fantasy XIV at the absolute highest setting. I would also like to know what you guys think of this build, good? waste of money? if i can get something better for cheaper? should I consider other parts like other gpu's?, cpu's? RAM? Or if I'm missing any required hardware lol I am a noob.

Any input would be greatly appreciate it, and thank you in advance for taking the time to look through this.

If you're mainly going to play FFXIV then I thought you should know that the game runs much, much better on AMD cards. A GTX460 is barely faster than a 5770.

No point getting the Antec since their psu's are terrible. You don't need 1000W either unless you are going to SLI. Save a bit of money and get the "fully modular" Corsair VX750 for $155 AR.

That memory kit is pricey... and don't need any more than 6GB if you're just going to be gaming. Pick up the Patriot 6GB kit and use the savings for say, a 64GB SSD.

Nothing against the board but I've always felt the ROG series are overpriced. You can do just as well with the GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 for $279 shipped ($259 AR). The RoG looks nice though, if you're into that sort of thing.

If you really want my opinion though I would build it on a P55 mobo with a i5 750/760 with 4GB ram. Since you're going to play FFXIV and we know that game runs better on AMD cards... we just need to wait. The 6800 series are rumored to be announced on Oct 12th (just 1 week away!!) and if they perform well... a bunch of cards are just going to be dropping in price.

My thoughts exactly.

OP you are severely mis-allocating your resources for a gaming build. You do NOT need to be spending $300 each on PSU, mobo, RAM, CPU.

i5 760 + GA-P55-USB3 + Antec case $379
G.Skill DDR3 1333 8GB $160
5870 $350 AR (or wait for 6000 series)
Samsung F3 1TB + 650TX $125 AR

Your ODD and monitor are fine though! :D

Thanks for u guys input, ok so like I mention I need to build 2 gaming rigs. I have about 2500 give a bit for each. I only care that it runs any game out now or coming out for the next year and half - 2 years to run at 1900x1200 at the highest settings. I really wanted an i7 : )

Wow $2500... that's way overkill. I recently built a buddy a killer rig for just under $1100. It was a i5 750, corsair h50, Ggiabyte P55 mobo, 3x2gb g.skill ddr3, xfx 5850, corsair tx750, samsung dvdr, lancool case. I overclocked his system to 4.1ghz and it runs so many games so well at 1920x1080.

The cpu can last you at least a few years. Then upgrade your GPU every 12-18 months to the next high end and sell your old card at the same time. It's nice this way since you get to play with new, shiny cards more often :)

The 760 will be fine for gaming for quite a while. It's the exact same microarchitecture as the i7's, so don't be swayed by the marketed designation.

AznBoi is right on when it comes to the upgrades. It is simply not possible to build a system today that will play games at all max for two years. Spend ~$1300 on the rig that I suggested and put the rest of the budget away for a GPU upgrade in about a year.
