I have been doing my homework on a car I am looking at getting due to my lovely 2008 Ford Exploder sucking gas like Jenna Jameson in a porno.

Anywho, my buddy owns a dealership and is to me giving me a decent deal on two choices.

Pre Owned 2012 Kia Hybrid fully loaded, 24k and it has 20k miles on it

or a Brand new 2012 Kia Hybrid fully loaded for 27,500 and it has 0 miles..

Thoughts on the Kia's..... The warranties are pretty solid with 10yr 100k miles on it. The other thing I dont like is when I buy it new and it comes off the lot there goes the value. I did this back in 2004, and told myself I wont do it again. But is it worth paying less than 4k for a brand new spanking car ? I think so.

Anyone have thoughts or opinions.

Thanks

The way the hybrids are they come out that year so the 2014 won't come out til Jan or Feb 2014....this new car is only with less than 1000 miles was delivered not even a year ago from Kia....

I was just looking around and couldn't find anything but 2013 hybrids near me and I wondered about the 2012.

3.5k less for two years of worth of miles. In theory that should probably be priced around 20-22k. It's either a good sign that KIA is starting to hold it's value or they are way over charging for it. That said the used car has more room to work with price range. Get it down to 22k that's not to bad. But that's not enough off to make it worth driving it with someone else's 20k of god knows what kind of driving on it.

I agree... I am debating on that honestly of what to do....I am thinking of offering them something lower... the thing is the brand new 2012, I can probably get them to move the numbers on some just because......

Well, that's only a problem if you trade/buy every 3 years or so. If you buy new and run it until the wheels fall off, figuratively---like maybe 10 years, the instant depreciation won't matter one whit. The upside is you know exactly from day one how the vehicle was maintained instead of hoping and guessing.

I bought my SUV in 2008 and I'm keeping it not trading it in...

I agree they have said this car is a rare the trade in that is because the guy had everything done at that dealership......i

Get proof that it did. All oil changes, tire rotations...Everything. I am still looking for a new car as well and I am considering used. However, I won't purchase anything unless I get proof all the work was done at the dealer and that I get a CARFAX report.

I am going to be driving a 2013 genesis coupe 3.8 later today. I make make a thread about it or just a "buying used cars" thread in general and then post all my test drive experiences. So far I've driven a bunch of cars..Good luck with your search.

Got some more info... It is a DEMO car... has never been tagged or titles...has 4000 miles on it...

I told him that the price he gave me was to high... I am not paying 28500 OTD on a DEMO car that is a 2012 when I can buy a new one for less than 2k more
