I believe they are of mixed-descent, typically not white. I think they recruited so they wouldn't stand out. Casinoes are full or minorities - I went to mohigan sun a month ago and they have a bus port specifically for Asian buses.

Are they going to make a movie about this? I didn't see anything about a movie

Baccara, Blackjack, and craps are the only games with the house having a low percentage of winning.

The MIT guys won because they worked together and they played
"by the book" at the black jack table.

I've played quite a bit at vegas and I've seen good runs completely ruined
because of some new player who had to hit a 12 when the dealer was
showing a 6 or less.

You always want the dealer to draw and bust rather than taking a card that might
bust you (if the dealer has a 6 or less showing since most houses they have to
hit at least a soft 17 to stand.

Even doing everything "by the book" doesn't guarrantee success. Some times the
cards just are out to get you :)

Also, knowing when to split and double down at the correct times will get you ahead also
along with chip management.

this is pretty darn true - but blackjack and video poker "can" be beaten.

I play for entertainment...I absolutely love it. But not to make money.

So my BJ strategy is simply - try to play for as long as possible on my bankroll...if I hit a couple good shoes and play with their money for a while I can get more agressive. Otherwise I back down.

Almost always I'm up at a BJ table unless 3-4 bad shoes drain me. But like most gamblers I have a hard time taking my money and running unless I set a hard rule of when I'm down to 300 of their money I leave, when I have 600 of their money, I leave...when my bankroll is out I leave.

so how do you view the importance of the last spot? My buddy used to sit there and play two hands - one for him and one for the table. I do a rudimentary counting system following straight play.

that and I always hit on 16 vs. 7,8,9,10,A

just got back from ac (showboat), had a great 2 days 10-15$ blackjack and won 625$
crazier was the gf, she doesn't even know how to play and won a friggin $1000 profit (in 3 hours)
putting in an original $200
then they changed 3 dealers in like 20 minutescause they had almost no greens left
( a whole lotta suits was watching the table because another guy, also winnin like crazy was
betting and winning stack of greens ($25) playing 2 hands at once.....by the time they ask the guy
to leave, citing "sir, you cannot use your son's player card to play".....he had already color in 5
purples (500$)) one of the dealer later said the casino lost 60k to one guy who was betting
few thousand a hand because his wife is leaving him......

oh yea the free room and now free parking was good too
