Thoughts on Dead Island?

Did anyone like the game?

I'm going thru my second play through. I like the leveling system, and the side quest. The downside is killing a thousand undead gets old, and the environments tend to all look the same.

Oh, the trailer has nothing to do with the game. That was the most disappointing part for me.

The trailer looked so promising!

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Both the original and Riptide. Riptide was better, but the original was good as well. My wife and I spent endless hours dispatching zombies....

DI II is going to rock.

I had a lot of fun with it. Not something I would go back and play again, but the first time through was enjoyable.

It was ok. Got to the last level and never finished it. It's pretty repetitive. Go here, get equipment, kill zombies, and rinse and repeat.

in theory i should love the game, it has many thigs i enjoy -

zombies
open world
gathering/crafting

but whenever i tried to play it within 10 minutes i get a sick headache feeling and have to stop

I played through the first 1 about 5 times, and the 2nd one twice.

I quit at the very end of the 1st game,
by throwing deodorant bombs at the final boss and knocking/killing all other players off of the helipad, it was a pretty crappy way to team kill the other players, but it was funny to me.

That's like me with Borderlands.

If you can get past the bugs and the overly grimdark story both games are an absolute blast.

And whacking a zombie with a modded up blunt weapon and watching it go flying for 30 meters while its limbs stay behind never gets old.

I enjoyed both games but I liked Riptide better. Its difficulty was toned down so you could enjoy the game more.

The first one was awesome up until the city levels, dark drab and boring. The auto-balance is a bit knackered as well. It shouldn't take as long as the big brute zombies to kill the tiny ones that are crawling all over the city. The part in the huts right after the city is where I stopped playing, just got bored and the framerate sucks in that area. I'll have to check out Riptide.

Highly underrated. It's a flawed game, but if you like the old school Diablo-esce "kill-and-get-better-loot", it's a lot of fun. Zombie killing doesn't get much better than this.

I also preferred the sequel. I wish I figured out how well throwing your weapons worked earlier than I did. 🙂

I enjoyed it for a playthrough with a friend, I'd probably only do again with a full group. It had some fun aspects and some not fun aspects. I feel like deaths weren't punishing which I felt was at odds with how punishing using weapons was with how quickly they either degraded or you ran out of ammo, for me the end result was I spent way to much time just kicking zombie to save my weapons.

I do recall liking the 2nd one better, it did seem to have more guns involved, the first one seemed to mostly be a melee game.

The game was fun but the leveling system was completely borked. Sometimes your character could just jump 10-15 levels with no reason whatsoever. Ruined it totally for me.

Now that I have a real set of headphones that don't use a USB sound device, I have to remember trying it again. Tried it with my G930s, but the audio was totally borked(although I don't remember exactly what it was doing).
