Thoughts on Colorful SSD's

Currently using a 120Gb OCZ Arc 100. I couldn't say anything about its performance all I know is my PC boots faster, games loads quicker and tranfer rates are much better.

But 120Gb sure is not enough. Looking forward upgrading to a higher capacity and found this
deal https://www.amazon.com/s?me=A2YQSLQDVS64OR&merchant=A2YQSLQDVS64OR&qid=1531736318

I mean it's the cheapest I can find. Gonna make the 120Gb as drive for OS and the 320Gb for games.
Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks

I guess for the $70 price range that would be the cheapest you can find. Can't go above the budget I will still need some to upgrade my graphics card. Heck I am using a GTX 950 on a Ryzen 7 1700. I've seen Colorful graphic cards around and reading some reviews it fares quite well.

What video card are you plan on getting? And is what your total budget for the SSD and card?

Let's say I could spend $200 for a video card and an SSD. Could still sell this crap for $70 i guess. Might go for the GTX 1050 or Ti. Whichever I could afford.

I would save up to get both the GTX 1050Ti and an 500GB SSD. The 1050 Ti should last you about two to three years depending what games you like to play and at what settings.

I'd get the video card first I guess as I am experience screen tearing playing PUBG at medium settings using my old GTX 950.

This is just anecdotal, but I've had a ton of SSDs over the years, going back to the X25M-G1. I've had zero failures with leading brand drives (Intel, Samsung, Crucial) and multiple failures with drives from other companies. It isn't a cost saver if you lose your data, have to buy a replacement drive, and spend hours setting your system back up.

That is why I don't even look at unknown or lesser known brands of computer parts. I've burnt too many times buying cheap parts.

PUBG is pretty demanding as you may know. I would consider increasing the memory as well.

Surprisingly, it is pretty demanding for a game which graphics is visually inferior to the kinds of BF4 and GTA V. I am not sure if it's about optimization but yeah, I got a lot of tearing even in medium settings.

I would say it's all about personal preference and experiences. I'm a bit lucky I didn't had any failures buying from "other" companies. I'm currently using hardware from Galax and Biostar from there you got an idea of what parts I prefer. Saves me a lot.

If you can do Ebay, I recommend looking up Gtx 970's on there although I'm not sure how prices are. I got one 8months or so ago for $160.

For SSD, i agree about only using crucial, samsung, or similar good popular drives. $60-70 for a 250gb isn't bad, or $100-120 for a $500 i think.

Is it safe to assume you game at 1080p? You probably won't be happy with playing PUBG on a 1050Ti. If I were you, I'd save a little more and spend your entire budget on a 1060 and use a cheap spinner if you need storage space. Then gradually save up for an SSD for games if that's what you want. I have large SSDs for games in 2 of my 3 top systems and it is nice, but if I had to choose between a better GPU or SSDs for game storage, I'd pick the GPU.

Wow man, that's a bargain. Considering that mining was a hype 8 months ago.
Been reading reviews lately and Colorful got some pretty considerable thumb ups when it comes with their video cards.

Yes I am playing in 1080p. I also don't consider getting a 1050Ti, from a GTX 950 I guess it's not a good choice of upgrade if I would really want to feel that boost. Looking forward to a 1060, still waiting for the price until it drops like it supposed to be.

Yeah, I think you'll see price drops coming in the next couple of months, depending on what nVidia may (or may not) announce. I do think you'll be much happier with the 1060. SSD prices have been falling rapidly as well so if you save for a couple more months, maybe you can get both? I've seen 1 TB SSDs regularly on sale for under $200 and some 500 GB ones around the $100 mark as well.

Nice to hear that. I guess I'll just have to wait a little so I could have more options. Thanks man.

Buy a well known brand like Crucial or Samsung, or even ADATA. You can get a 500GB SSD for around ~$100 now. So I would save your money and at least that size.
Seconded, SU655 480GB for $78.. It is getting easier to convince others to make the swap 🙂

I have an EVO 850 and given all the crap with other brands, I will never use anything else.
If pretty colors or designs impress you I recommend some lovely stickers. Most arts & crafts stores have a HUUUGE selection of kickass stickers.

Or paint. Also from the arts & crafts place.

I wont lie, the design is neato.

I actually am surprised we haven’t seen SSDs with RGB lighting effects yet.
