I am thinking about buying a new 2001 Cavalier. In Florida there is a 2500.00 Rebate.
Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on this Veh.

Thanx

If you are trying to look cool, skip it. If you are just looking for relatively reliable transportations for a few years, not a bad deal. Especially if you can stack rebates w/ the college grad program. Be sure and check Edmunds or something to make sure you dont get shafted by the dealer, and you could get a sweet deal. Beware though, since they also get tons of these back as "Program Cars" the resell is basically Zip, Zero, Nada.

Having had several friends in HS who owned Cavaliers, my general impression was thus: the cars ran. There is really very little past that to reccommend them. Of course they are perfectly fine as basic transportation, it's not like the Cavalier is a Nova or anything. The car will run, it will get you from point A to point B without blowing up, and it won't have a terrible reliability record, though it's not likely to be stellar by any stretch of the imagination either. My experiences would lead me to believe that a 2 year old Civic or Carolla coming off of a lease with about 20K miles will have more useful miles left in it than a new Cavalier, but there is nothing majorly wrong with the Cavalier, and you'll never notice that it wears out rather quickly if you are like most people and dump the car after only five or six years. If you are the kind of person who will drive a car until it literally dies of old age, then look into something European or Japanese. Note that this is only my experience and other people may have vastly different experiences.
