Thoughts on a man who teaches kindergarten?

I'm going to be graduating from college this fall with my special ed certification. I plan to stay in the k-4 grade area but what really has my attention is kindergarten. I love to work with small children so I'm really leaning towards the 5-6 year old age bracket. Also, I really like the energy that young children give out and working with them on their fine motor skills would be neat.

So people if you met a male at a party and he told you that he teaches kindergarten what would your initial reaction be? Would think the guy was a wuss, or a overpriced babysitter?

😀

Personally, I don't go to parties to meet guys, so I wouldn't give a damn what you do. Sorry man.

My first thought was that you weren't good enough to get that job you wanted teaching Japanese Culture at the local high school.

I would think that he is doing an honorable thing, trying to shape children into future adults. I think that of all teachers, whether its kindergarten or graduate school.

I would think the guy is a teacher. Good for him. (of course i'm not looking to meet dudes though....sooo)

Hey, if you enjoy kids, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Personally, I hate little kids, if I was ever a teacher, I'd probably teach high school (or be a college prof). But I don't even want to be a teacher...

lol..

Why are people homophobic? You don't talk to people at parties? When in a conversation with a male you don't ask him what he does for a living? I'm not talking about hooking up with gay males.

😀

Honestly, first thought is "pedophile," but I had a guy teach my 4th grade class and there wasn't anything wrong with him that I know of. If that's what you want to do then go for it. Screw the idiots like me that propogate that stereotype.

^ Not sarcasm.

Good point. I HATE kids.

to be honest my first thought would be "that's unusual", but I wouldn't be thinking your a pedophile or anything until I talked to you for at least, say, 5 minutes

My first thought when reading your topic was if you were trying to get someone to be uncomfortable with a man and little kids in the same room. Like you were Michael Jackson or something.

I personally don't see anything wrong with it. If you have the skills and patience to teach small children then more power to you.

Anyone that would rather teach high school kids over elmentary school kids is crazy. High school kids have already been corrupted. Corrupted by TV, peers, lack of parental supervision and society in general. I would much rather have the chance to shape and steer children in the right direction with good attitudes. I feel for the world when all these kids in high school graduate. You think its bad now.

Pedophile!!?? Although I'm quite forgiving I don't have any symphony for people that prey on young children. This is from a guy that's very liberal who opposes the death penalty.

Props to you for willing to teach 5-6 year olds. Tell us how your first year goes...

But impressions? You like milfs?

I'd really think you would want to watch the payo n that. Chances are you couldn't sustain yourself on that income.

I don't think they are homophobic...they're just stupid punks🙂

That would be a great job...kids are great. You are shaping young minds. Now that's a scary thought😉

I'm not homophobic, but like I said... I just really don't know that I care. I mean, if I met 20 new people at a party, what are the odds I'll run into even 2 or 3 of them again, and then, what are the odds that after that, I'll see them anymore?

My kindergarten teacher was a man, and I still think to this very day that he was one of the top five teachers I've ever had, up to and including my second year of college at the University of Michigan.

Good luck to you! 😀
