So I've got the aforementioned money to spend on a computer.
I was looking at the AnandTech $1700 Performance Midrange buyers guide Intel build specifically: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3723/system-buyers-guide-1700-performance-midrange/2
I already have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard so I don't need the peripherals.
Don't really care about Blu-Ray ability, so I was thinking swapping in this Lite-On: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106333
Also, I need to have Firewire 800 capability. This isn't onboard the motherboard. Should I choose a different mobo instead of the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 listed in the article? Or just get a PCI card? This would be fine as long as the speed isn't bottlenecked, though I would doubt it would be.
Any other ways in which I should deviate from the recommendations? Gigabyte HD 5850 1GB (OC) a good choice?
Any other advice + tips and stuff would be good. This is my first proper build but I've taken a part and reassembled and am vaguely competent.
Thanks!
