Thoughts from you motorcycle riders

how old is the dude that bought it? how long has he been riding?

if the answers to these questions are relatively low numbers, then you might want to get your suit cleaned for the funeral now

ok, then that is a pretty nice, i wouldn't buy one that large myself, but i bet he'll have some fun on that beast

you should shoot some video of him, can he do tricks and stuff?

The VTX 1800 is far from the worst possible choice. For one thing it has brakes front and rear, and a sensible rake/trail (unlike the crap as seen on the Discovery Channel). It should handle well except at really low speeds (the wide handle bar will help). About the only problem I can see is a lack of cornering clearance, but I ride a semi-sportbike (SV650S) 😀

Here is a real monster, the Triumph Rocket III:

140bhp Horse Power @5750rpm
147ft.lbs Torque @2500rpm

Actually dudes in their late 40's that haven't ridden for 20+ years are the most dangerous motorcycle riders. I'm not sure where I read that but these guys are buying big bikes and don't have the training or muscle to control them.

It was a recent insurance study. Ever since the "chopper" craze hit, the new squids are the 40-somethings that have little or no experience, riding bikes that weigh 600-900lbs. The biggest problem is the fact that most of these RUBs (Rich Urban Bikers -usually on full custom Harleys) put about 50-100 miles a year on their 30K+ bikes driving to "bike night"; which is usually at a local bar. They sit, drink, and wave dicks for a couple of hours then drive home. We had one local idiot launch himself into the brick wall of the Roadhouse Bar/Grill/Restaurant (he died). Surprisingly enough alcohol was involved.

And don't get me started on gear. I'm the only rider I know that wears full gear all the time. The rest are in brain buckets, t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes. Gives me the shivers (AS I hug the full face Shoei sitting on the desk next to me).

This thread makes me want a bike. 🙁
That said I know NOTHING about them, except for the fact that ever since I saw my friend's Buell I've wanted one of my own. 😛
