It seems most people see politics as some esoteric thing, which it cannot be really since governments have the power to control everything in society, and make all our laws, etc. stuff like gardening or mountain climbing are truly esoteric IMO.

But that said, do people really care if Obama will lose? He hasn't "cured" the recession, and frankly there will be no "cure" until after he departs. But he promised change and he did not deliver. he essentially won the election via marketing, promotion and his own charisma.

Well that's sad. It sounds like you learned a new word 'esoteric' you want to try.

Governments don't 'conrol everything in society'.

They may 'make all our laws', but a lot of those laws are written by industry lobbyists.
What they do and pass is largely determined by those lobbyists.

Obama hasn't 'cured' the recession; for one, he's too beholden to special interests who are required to get elected; for another, the Republicans have obstructed all his efforts.

He has done a lot of good. He's stopped going down the terrible road Republicans were on, for a start. Then he had the biggest bailout he could get that helped a lot.

He saved the auto industry Republicans were happy to see lost to help the foreign companies who have invested in red states and to attack unions.

Massive job losses have changed to small increases. The stock market just hit its highest point in years, the Nasdaq its highest point in 11 years.

He promised change and delivered some - about as much as we can expect when people like you vote against real change. Progressives don't get enough votes to be President.

He won the election not only by 'marketing', though like every major candidate that's a big part (you think Bush wasn't marketing?), but also by being much better than McCain.

Your post suggests a level of ignorance that's a big part of why we don't get better politicians. There a major differences between re-electing Obama and Romney et al.

I'm curious, if GOP wrecked the economy and a Democrat hasn't 'cured' it yet, are you proposing we go back to GOP?

esoteric.

Lois: Peter, it's great they picked your theme, but isn't it a little esoteric?
Peter: Esoteric? [camera zooms to a conference room with six men inside Peter's brain]
Man 1: Could it mean "sexy"?
Man 2: I think it's a science term.
Man 3: Fellas, fellas, esoteric means "delicious".
Peter: Lois, Who's the Boss? is not a food.
Brian: Swing and a miss.
