i know this forum gets this kinda thing all the time but i'm debating if i really really need to get a new psu (i'm thinking I do...)

I got me a Zalman 600w ZM600-HP - has served me very well the past year or so *but* I'm looking at getting a quad (and overclocking it to hell :p ) as well as looking at getting into watercooling in the not too distant future

add that into the 8800GTX I'm currently sporting and it makes me question if 600w is enough to back all that juice needed

I run 5 or 6 high CFM case fans and have the usual assortment of HDD's and optical drives

not really looking for advice on power supplies just yet as i know what i'm looking for if power is needed

Plenty... you will be fine... as for Water Cooling it is best to get something that is not on your PSU....
