I knew it all along. Burning Bush my ass!

I also find it interesting how those that propose such theories also get high on a regular to near-regular basis:
Shanon wrote that he was very familiar with the affects of the ayahuasca plant, having ?partaken of the ... brew about 160 times in various locales and contexts.?

There was on Onion article about this several years ago. Title was" Local Stoner convinced everyone on TV also stoned."

um... pretty sure all religious texts were based on personal revelations under the influence of seriously potent drugs.
I've held to this statement for a long time now. All religions were founded under drugs and the words passed on to the sheep.

it takes someone who understands the drugs to relate to other things. Many people can relate to the 'spiritual' awakening that many drugs create. Is this because the gods only talk to people who are high? Or because the people who are high are imagining things.

These days, nobody believes the words of those who use drugs. That is why nobody wants to let others prove religions were created by those under the extreme influence... they fear people would abandon their faith. Although it would just take a little convincing and they'd all turn back. To many, the harsh world is lonely without god.

I think putting the origin of some religions to those who were under the influence of psychadelics and had revelations isn't that "out there" to think. Before people say "that's dumb", go ahead and eat a couple eighths of shrooms and tell me what happens. I've read multiple trip reports people had that lead to a sort of "divine presence" while under the influence.

Sure he was high.. high on Jesus. Oh yeah Jesus wasn't yet born. I am glad science is finally explaining the bible for cynics.

Is this even a question? I think the burning bush episode was a pretty good tip off on whether or not the guy liked his hallucinogens. :p

hell, people can legally (in most states) go try Salvia and some may get much similar spiritual revelations. A lot of first-time users of various potent psychedelics go experience trips that end up changing their lives, usually for the more peaceful and better (for society). Some actually go the other route and realize what the whole deal is and realize its only drugs that induces spirituality. I've known a few people, especially ones I've met here in college, that could attest to those statements.

Hey, I totally agree with the guy. I still think Jesus and the apostles munched on shrooms while wandering around the desert. ...Hell, I know I've seen similar shit while on shrooms, and I can only imagine how fasting + desert climate + dehydration would sway those effects....

I'm only throwing out a little caution on top of this, in that most of these theories can only be based on 2nd-hand assumptive claims. There's not a lot of hard evidence that the people living during the days of the Bible were actually exposed to these substances. We can't simply assume that these plants were present in this area then, just because they are now. I would think it's possible to unearth some archaeological evidence that such is the case, but I am not aware if that has been done

So... ? Drug use has been common among humans for at least ten thousand years, probably more.

Thou shalt have no other doobies besides this one.

Thou shalt not worship thy bong, only enjoy it

Thou shalt not misuse the name of Snickers Bars

On the last day, honor the Sabbath, and get higher than the peak of Mt Sinai.

R'spect, yo.

Thou shalt not kill, unless thy buzz is harshed

Thou really shouldn't commit adultery

Thou shalt not steal, as it harshes buzzes

Thou shalt not lie, except if police ask if you're stoned.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's "herb" garden. Grow your own.
