Trying to justify buying one. I drive to work, and I fly airplanes. But I could see using it say on the beach, or at the gym.

Wondering what you have, and when/where you use yours.

I use my iPod all the time. I finally got off my ass and got it hooked up to my deck in my truck, when I'm working in the yard, mountain biking, running, lifting, all the time at work, etc.. Basically I only take it off when it's time to recharge it :p

I have 2 and I never use either. I used one skiing back in February... that was the first time I'd used it in forever. Such a waste of money gimmicky thing...

Im looking at the ipod mini, 4 gb one.
Wondering if that will hold enough stuff for me. I cant see filling a 20gb ipod.
Plus, I dont know if I can hook it up in my car. I just have a cd player.

It depends on your collection, and how good you are at only putting your favorite songs on the thing. I have a 10GB iPod and I really had to butcher my collection to fit everything that I like. I'm constantly having to weed out more music to fit new albums on the thing.

4GB is too small for me, and the mini is a waste IMO when you consider that you can get a 15GB iPod for only $50 more. It's up to you.

I have the ipod mini and 4gb is just fine for me since I only have 2gb of music. Not everyone has tons of music on their computers.

if you listen to music without a lot of motion (car, plane. etc), a good mp3 discman will save you a lot of money, and would have lots of cheap, light storage too

I travel around the city (foot, subway, bus) a lot for work, so I use my Karma constantly every day.

Gym, car, mowing the lawn, and bike riding.

I also use it as a backup for dj'n in case my main system goes down or locks up while performing.

(I've got a 20 GB iPod...)

I have an ipod. I use it at work (hook it into a set of computer speakers) and occasionally in the bathroom while showering or shaving (via radio tuner, thanks to the bathroom radio's crappy reception for anything but the ipod tuner)

I used to use it in the car on the drive to work, back when I had a 30 minute drive, or while taking the subway. but I never take the subway anymore, and my commute to work is only about 10 minutes, so it's really not worth the hassel of having to keep my cassette adapter in the car -- the wires were making it look messy, and I was worried about someone breaking into my car (not for the cassett adapter itself, but someone might see the adapter and assume that I have an expensive CD or MP3 player hidden away in the glove compartment.

edit: I also use it on road trips, and it's great for parties -- I can load an entire night's worth of songs into it, create a playlist, and then just plug the iPod into a stereo at the party.

The obvious solution is to get a new BMW 3 series with the Ipod adapter built into the glove box.

iPod... I use it while I'm walking around the campus, at the library, in class sometimes, and hopefully in my new, used car next semester. :/

obviously. want to spot me 30K for a downpayment? :p

I used to have a pretty nice and clean system worked out, which was great at my old job where we had a secure parking lot and the place was in no-mans land to begin with (re: west side of manhattan, with the parking lot over on the Jersey side). but now I work a few blocks away from the ghetto.

128MB iRiver flash-memory player for weight-training/running.

40GB Creative Nomad Zen Xtra for walking to/from work (30 minutes each way), and for falling asleep every night. My whole MP3 collection is about 25 GB, so there's plenty of room left. :) In fact, since I'm neffing from my parents' house, I'm gonna go get it right now!

Thinkin' about the Ipod Mini - pretty sweet product (got one a month ago).

My Review -
Works awesome - haven't gotten off my a$$ to go running w/ it or anything yet. Works great as an alarm clock when hooked up to speakers. Nice and small w/ full metal case to keep it safe. The only thing I'd miss from say a 15 or 20 GB is actually not the space, but back lit buttons.

Face it - you'll confuse the heck out of yourself if you put your entire collection on the player - at least I do. I put on only the stuff I might want to listen to - which easily fits within 4 GB.

As for your CD player in your car - the FM Transmitters work great - top 2 out there for the mini (other than selling your car and getting a BMW with ipod builtin features - sure wish I could...)
O yeah - the transmitters : Belkin Tune Cast II - better than the first version, has many more channels it can broadcast - you'll always find a free one. Second - Griffin iTrip - new one made now specially for the mini - form fitting. Only prob with that one, you gotta pre-program the stations w/ your computer.

That's about it - the iPod kicks butt ! NJoy !!

I had one of those, but the battery would be move and turn it off and then back on if I bumped it in the right spot. Finally I got rid of it and got an iPod. I use mine all the time when walking around campus and on the bus.

I mostly use it while studying at school.
It's nice for time between classes too. I use it in the car with a tape adapter sometimes too.
I have a dell dj that I got in April.
