how much arctic silver did you get?

The one I got, cosmetically, looked like it was used up and close to 5/8 of the syringe was empty.

Leaving me with only 3/8 of a syringe left...

I was wondering if this is how much 6.5g or .23oz is supposed to be. Seeing that I paid close to $15 for cpu greese, I want to make sure I was not ripped off by this online vendor whose name I will not divulge until I've made sure that I was ripped off.

So, can anyone confirm that I got the right amount or is there supposed to be more arctic silver in the syringe.

Well, it's pretty small in general, but the syringe is nearly full. IE, the white part that extends off the back should be slightly shorter than the size of the "main body" of the tube. BTW, if someone used it already it's probably pretty obvious because this stuff can get pretty messy.. and its a pain to cap the thing, it just oozes out.

well, i'm guessing the syringe is roughly the length of the tube, about 2/3rds of the syringe part was sticking out when i got it.

The plunger, if I remember right, was at least 1/3 of the way into the tube when I got it.

Also, as Bry said.. pull off the cap and see if there is any of the grease is on the tip... If it has, it might have been used before.

If you look closely at the syringe, you will see the darker area toward the front where the compound is. On syringes with the full 6.5 grams, this should be about 7/10ths of an inch which is less than 1/2 the overall length of the tube.

Compound on the tip is not a good indication of prior use as we overfill each syringe and squeeze out the excess to bring it down to the proper weight.

If you have access to a tripple beam scale, A full syringe without the cap will weigh at least 10.8 grams.

The syringes I have in stock are all of a uniform fill, with the plunger extening 1" beyond the syringe, and the syringe at 1-1/2" in length. Would seem to indicate a 1/2" fill of thermal paste.

My new tube optimized for small contact areas has 1" of "play" (i.e. what 2Cool said there's 1" of plunger extending out the back of the unit).

Yeah me too. I got 1" of plunger protruding from tube. This stuff
WORKS GREAT ! I am using a PIII 600e CBo @ 800mhz with only a
Vantec P3D-5030 HS. Before the A-Silver my cpu temp was 48c, After, at
same ambient case & room temp it went down to 42c, as reported using Asus Probe & the thermistor built into cpu.
I also lapped and polished (like a mirror)the back of the HS.
Your mileage may vary but I bet you get at least 4 deg diff.
Uh, oh yeah, my previous thermal compound used with the above was the copper stuff from Overclockers Hideout.
Half an hour of Q3 and cpu temp was up to 51c. Both tests were done
with the left side of my SC-760a case open. (still fiddling with it)
I realize that the front, rear, and PS fan were probably only
cooling themselves with the case open like that, but the side fan
blowing right at the HS was probably helping a lot more than it would
with the cover on . (gonna have to make a hole there)
The chips on my Annhilator2 are "warm" to the touch. And my
Kenwood 72x is very warm. I'll bet that big pig generates a lot of heat. I Tink I need another intake fan up high and a top blowhole to
go with the one on the side before I put that cover on. Maybe another fan and hole for the vid card too .
BTW the Kenwood only cost me 89 bucks with rebates, is DAMN fast, and is so quiet I wouln't know it was runnin if it didn't blink once in a while.

Although I already used the syringe, I still consider 1 cpu application to be very small.

with that said, the tube I got has the plunger 3/4 of an inch out, which means I got less than what I paid for...since the plunger is plunged deaper into the syringe...

oh well, I guess I got ripped. Am I going to reveal the company's name? nah...I still like them.

Thanks everyone for your verification.
