Hi

I have a "problem" (not sure if it's a problem, really, or just a limitation of DVI) with scaling options using my 4890 with a 52" TV.

When I got the TV, I couldn't find my long HDMI cord (still can't), but luckily the TV had a DVI port so I just used that instead. Now when I go to the tab where "scaling options" should be, I don't see it at all, so I can't adjust overscan. Is this a limitation of using DVI? Or should I be seeing it even with DVI? Or is it some sort of bug with my drivers? (before fanboys tear me apart this is the only "problem" I have had with ATI drivers, and it's a pretty tame one...)

I guess it's supposed to look like

But all I see is

Notably, the top TV is detected as "DTV" with HDMI, where DVI on mine just shows "digital panel"

My TV doesn't have standalone overscan adjustment either

I have tried with 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and none enabled that tab for me

Gonna go buy another HDMI cable from monoprice, but I's like to figure out what's up with this first

DVI connection doesn't need a overscan setting tab. In fact I find it strange to see that some HDTV are still using overscan.

I would recommond trying to find a way to access your HDTV's service menu and see if there's any way to remove the overscan. If that does't work you can always try making a custom resolution with powerstrip.

I remember newer versions looking a bit different in a sneaky way, I had to spend some time looking for it myself. Unfortunately I can't test that right now, the rig I have my TV hooked up to (the main rig) has a legacy card in it with my 5850 currently RMA'd :(

in the second pic what happens if you disable GPU scaling?

I'm not near my HTPC, otherwise I'd check further. I think HDMI cable should solve your issue, but not positive.

Wasn't there an issue at some point where the Scaling option wouldn't show up unless you lowered the resolution first to non-native, set the scaling, then raised the resolution back up? Is that still an issue?

That is not an issue

I snagged my brothers HDMI cord to test, and it shows up when I use HDMI, so problem fixed. I just need to buy another cord (or find mine)

Too bad the default settings on the HDMI input look ugly, gonna have to re-set that up >.>
