You know those people who do the paintings of the defendants during court hearings...what is their job title and what's the point of having them? Why can't you just take actual pictures with a camera instead?!?

A friend of my mother's does this for the major courts in British Columbia - major*blingbling* she gets for this, I think it is a Court Sketch Artist.

from camera flashes? even if they had only one official courtroom photographer who could only take pics at appropriate times? i mean it's got to be quicker and more accurate then any artist could do...

How do they do them anyway? They take a a scene which lasts less than a second and draw it. Like they can't get the people to hold still and pose, that takes some talent.

Less artistic and therefore less emotionally wrenching. Better for the media's purposes.
