I've heard a lot of talk about drivers and software being one of the biggest things that affect quality on tv tuner cards. I was wondering if anyone has special drivers that they found to work the best or just a certain driver that is better for quality? I'm not interested really in recording tv, just watching it.

The ones from leadtek are actually great for watching tv, i've tryed a lot of software also, works great with the proved remote ect. The recording however is pretty bad, the MPEG2 is kinda proprietary and hard to edit and the MPEG4 support is poor and slow.

So the winfast PVR software is good for my needs? I have heard though that it can take up a bit of CPU, or is that just recording?

The driver doesn't "do" much. On the front end, you might as well try free alternatives like ChrisTV or DScaler. Recording (to MPEG2 format) will always put the MPEG2-izing load onto the CPU, since your card doesn't have a hardware compactor.
