I was about to buy a Tomtom GO 300 after reading a great review in a magazine, untill I went on the internet and found so much flame from people, that I'm not sure if I want to buy it anymore...
Can someone who owns a GPS answer my questions please?

1)People say that the preloaded maps are inacurate and NOT up to date. Someone said that in New York, these units work very poorly... I live in New York, so I'm concerned.
Cant I update my maps from the net? - Like download new maps? If not, WHY THE HELL NOT?? 😉

2)I heared that Garmin c330 is a good device, but the way I understand it, it doesnt come with a charger, and cant be charged from a cigarette lighter. So if I go on a long trip, and my battery dies on the way, - I'm SCREWED??

3)What is your personal experience with YOUR Gps?? What model/brand do you have? Where do you live? (your reception there)

If you have one of those built-in GPS systems, or the ones that work with PDA or a laptop, dont bother, since you wont be helping me any.. I'm getting the one that mounts on a windshield or a dashboard.

-----Thanks in advance for your help and insight.

I have a unit that works with my PDA... running TomTom, but since you blatantly told me not to reply since I wouldn't be helping, Consider this a free bump... 🙂

Most of them use NavTeq which is what mapquest is based on. They do have mistakes but the chance of a mistake meaning you get lost is rare. -M
