Those of you who have these drives, which one runs cool?

I am looking to get either a 60gb or 80gb drive soon, since I am running out of space on my storage server. Problem is, I already have 4 hard drives running in there right now, and I don't want to add more heat than it already has. I am looking at four drives basically:

IBM 60GXP 60gb
Western Digital 600BB 60gb or 800BB 80gb
Maxtor D740X 60gb or 80gb
Seagate Barracuda IV 60gb or 80gb

I am leaning towards the 60gb versions right now because it is more cost efficient right now compared to the 80gb, and 60gb should last me a while until I need to get more storage again. Again, heat is a major concern, as I have as many fans as I can possibly have right now. Let me know how cool or hot your drive runs, and I will base my decision on that. Thanks!

Why don't you just get as few new large drives as needed to replace 'em all? Why have increased risk of data loss, more heat and more noise with a bunch of smaller ones? The 40 GB platter drives should not really have the 60 GB models being more cost effective than 80.

Maybe if you want to run that many hd's it might be worth investing in hot swapping hd slots ?

I run a single Baracuda ATAIV and it runs pretty cool with no cooler. But I have a well venthilated case (Twin fan PSU, single exhaust fan) and I don't have any huge heat producers. My advice would be to get a 5400RPM harddrive if it's just for storage as any pathetic 5400RPM drive can crack the 100 Megabit barrier..
