What kind is it? Specs? How much did you pay for it?

Wondering if I should be getting myself a new laptop soon and doing some research

Actually....I've had a laptop since 1998

That one is still functional....somewhat.....

Currently using one which is from 2002. This one still working very well.

I'm trying to figure out if any laptops have hit the 2 ghz range. (Mine is 1.6)

Thinkpad 600E. Yes it's old. P2-400, 160 megs RAM.

I paid nothing for it, my gf's job was throwing it away. I installed XP on it and stripped the OS down so it runs quicker. Runs fine.

well you have to factor in the change of processor design. A 1.6 today is *roughly* equal to a 3.0 GHZ pentium 4. Those numbers are not exact, but just a ballpark range for you to work with.
