Well, I didn't get shot, mugged, robbed, or defrauded today, so it looks like another day inwhich the police have done their job for me. Call me a "police appologist" if you want. Yes, it's their job, but it's a poorly-paid, over-worked position that most of them are in. I'm sorry that I can't expect them to be mind-readers and to know exactly who really will pose a threat to them when they pull someone over or respond to a call.

Depends on your definition of poorly-paid.

Cops in my area make more than the average college graduate + job security + excellent pension and benefits.

Of course this doesn't mean it is true for all PDs in the country.

I believe that cops in my area start out in the low 20's per year.

Criminals and people who associate with or are related to criminals, naturally distrust police. They kill and incarserate everyone they love. No respect for the law or yourself will cause major problems with dealing with police.

I dont trust the police much either. But the people I hate worse is those people who think the police are suppose to solve all of peoples problems. I put up a little rope swing for my nephew and neice to play on and did not think much of it till the police were coming to my door. One of my stupid idiot neighbors called and said I had a noose hanging in my tree. This supposed noose was about 1 foot off the ground and was not a slip knot. Neighbors are just stupid idiots.

You're hilarious. Hilariously foolish.

Most of the time cops are responding to the stupid calls they get from stupid people in my neighborhood. A lot can be solved by talking to your neighbors. I had an idiot that lived accross the street from me who would call the cops and say I had trash in my yard. The thing is that it was always caused by some stray dog that got loose and got into my trash. So how come she did not complain about the stray dogs? I eventually moved and got rid of that busy body. People that are busy spying on their neighbors need to get a life.

Seriously? Got any proof? I agree that most cops aren't paid as well as they should be but around here (Dallas suburbs) they start around $40k, plus like savoyboy said great job security, benefits, and a pension.

Even city of Dallas cops do ok, plus they get a $10k signing bonus nowadays.

This town is about the same size as mine, but it's about 40 miles away:
$11.40/hr

I can't find the pay for my city, but I imagine that it's similar.

Wow that BITES. Small town not too bad I am sure you can live pretty decent on that but NYC $32k? Wow. Thanks for the info.

Agentbolt: 186 Officers were killed on duty this year. I am not going to waste my time searching for the convenience clerk numbers but you can if you really feel like being proven wrong.
