People aren't worried about their toilets breaking? Lol. Know how I learned that chlorine tablets can damage some toilet parts? The tower snapped just above the feed line. Water came pouring into my tank at full force, probably more than the overflow would have been able to handle. If I hadn't been in the other room and had someone else in the house to go turn off the water while I plugged the hole with my hand, things could have been reeeeal bad.

I used to use them but I found that they would generate way too much chemical at a time. I wanted to come up with some kind of slow release mechanism and never got around to it, and just forgot and don't use them. They do help keep the inside of the bowl clean though but overall I'm not sure if it's worth the potential wear and tear on the toilet.

I buy the chemical resistant flapper. Not a drunken flapper from the 1920s.

Do you just drop them in the tank, or use them with the Kaboom?

I use them in the Kaboom.

Otherwise I think they would disolve too fast and release too much of the bromide.

With the Kaboom the bromide or clorine does not get in the tank.

The clorine odor is stronger to me and the bromide works well.

Lowes has the Kaboom kits on sale for $4.97 once in a while.

It's not like anything in the tank is expensive enough to worry about it.

Yeah, I just read that EVERY toilet manufacturer voids the warranty if you use these things.

I guess it's not worth it. I was looking forward to blue water. Now all I've have to settle for is yellow and brown. :'(

Try eating more beets.

The resulting floods are something to worry about.

Especially while you're on vacation, etc.

That's for sure, and I've found that out the hard way to the tune of $20k (fortunately insured).

To be clear, I have every expectation that every toilet in my house will break regularly. I've replaced the guts of each so often over the last twelve years that I couldn't even give you a count.

The part I find funny is having someone come out to fix one under warranty, but I guess it's just a product like any other.
