Well, can't say about the Sony's, but you do have to be careful that you can operate it with your card. I don't recall the site (Monitor World?) has specs on most every monitor and if it has any special requirements.
BTW, I did some research, and I found a 1996 model CTX 21" (cost me a whopping $91)

Biggest problems would be that they tend to eat up desk space like no tomarrow. They also often aren't as clear as modern monitors, or support as high a resolution. I wouldn't really go for buying one online (as you have no idea what the picture looks like), but buying one in the store could be a wise move.

Well, I used a little strategy to get mine:
Went on Egay, computers& accessorys, monitors 19" and up
Chose my local area.
Looked for a low price, with high shipping (in my case it said $125)- this tends to scare off bidders
Found a monitor that met all of the above. Did some reading at www.monitorworld.com - found out it was ok to use with my GF2 Ultra
Bid $85, got it for that bid, drove down and picked it up (surprisingly, it was from a company I'd done business with before). Yes, I did have to pay tax- 6.75, but compared to $125 that was a bargain
