Ok guys, im 6 foot 4 250lbs. Im a fat a55 in the middle but muscular every where else. I play soccer and cant seem to burn it off my middle. I dont drink very much and the foods i eat tend to consist of a lean piece of meat, a carb, and veggies... suggestions as to what i can do to lose the fat in the middle?

I thought of doing situps but i do like 50 a day...

I have taken the liberty of breaking down Tbirdkids diet

Lean peice of meat= heaping platter of pulled pork BBQ (sauce included)
a Carb= 1 king size bag of ruffles.......cuz ruffles have ridges
and veggies= corn on the cob.....with more butter than corn, potato salad

perhaps if you were to actually play soccer instead of sitting on the bench, the weight might be more inclined to come off.

but what do I know...i'm just a Donkey

Doing sit ups do nothing to GET RID OF THE FAT you have around your stomach.

You have to WRITE DOWN EXACTLY WHAT YOU EAT.

If you eat less then 2500 calories in total you should be losing weight after a few weeks.

You are definately having calories come from somewhere.

How often do you play soccer?

You have to find YOUR BALANCE.

Either keep eating smaller portions until YOU ARE LOSING WEIGHT or keep doing some form of cardio/ sprint intervals until your dropping fat and leaning up.

Do you drink beer? Sodas? Deserts? Sauces on what you eat?

Do incline sit ups with weights that will ehlp better then doing endless amounts of sit ups. BUT you still have to lower overall body fat percentage to get 'cut'.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!
Seriously, though, you need to simplify this. Burn more calories than you take in. And it starts with cardio, much, much cardio. The fat will slowly diminish. No secrets to this stuff.

You can't "spot-reduce" fat. Its sort of like melting snow - it may be piled to different depths in different places, but it all melts at the same rate. If you can't lose the fat around your stomach, it means you're still not burning more calories than you're taking in.

Cut the empty calories (soda/beer/etc) and excessive carbs (pasta/etc).

1) Change your diet: The fat is comming from somewhere, and this is it.

2)Get off your butt and do some cardio!! Run or bike at least an hour a day, and the fat will just melt away.

3) Sit ups: It won't burn the fat, but it will give your gut some tone once you do.

How fat is distributed on people is often very different.

I am much the same way as you. In fact, when I go on a cutting diet, my lower abs are the dead last thing to start showing. It's the "spare tire" distribution of fat.

The funny thing is, I can look cut all over, and still have a spare tire around my waist. :(

Everyone here has been correct. You need to monitor your diet, and get in some more consistent cardio. You cannot "spot reduce" fat, so sit-ups will do nothing to get rid of your belly.

However, sit-ups/ab work are still a very needed part of any workout program. Neglect your abs and problems like pulled upper groin (hip flexor) muscles, and back aches will plague you in your exercises. Trying to get strong without strengthening your core is a recipe for injury.

Obviously you can't spot reduce, but unless you're seriously freaking stacked, I'd wager good money that at 250lbs and 6,4 you've got a lot more fat on you than you think. Lose 20 lbs and your middle was get smaller. So now you've just got fat distribution that's concentrated on the gut, as most guys do, but I've NEVER seen somebody who was ripped and still had a lot of belly fat.

I'm one of those who can get quite cut all over, and still have enough pudge on my belly to hide my middle- lower abs.

Like I said, people pack on fat differently. Mine ALWAYS concentrates on my mid section more so than most others.

In fact, I can have a belly and still have veiny arms and legs (as I did before I started working out a few years ago).
